Have a Me Day

Image
When the world seems to be weighing on your shoulders... Have a Me Day! It's okay to dismiss yourself for a few short hours from responsibilities and enjoy yourself. Even if it is simply hanging out at the mall while sipping on your favorite drink or getting your nails done at the local salon. It's also okay to say No if someone wants you to commit to something extra that day. Don't feel guilty asking to have some time for yourself. After all, sometimes being alone and doing something you enjoy will allow you to appreciate those around you. We all Need that place to escape. So, think about where that may be and don't be afraid to tell everyone "I'll be back, I'm Having a Me Day! "

Take time for yourself and travel

Image
Go on vacation or a weekend getaway, are you crazy,?!?! I have homework, and a family, and a job, and.... How many times have you said this yourself or heard this from someone else? No one is way too busy to take time for himself or herself. Once again, it CAN be done when you Prioritize and Balance .  In fact, traveling has given me more time to focus on homework. No, I am not lieing, it's true. I have found that time in the car or in the hotel room late at night when everyone is sleeping is the best time to focus. Instead of catching up on Netflix movies or reading a non-fiction book in the car, put that time to good use and study. You WILL feel accomplished, and the best part is that you can still enjoy your time at your favorite destination. If you were home, you would make time to do homework instead of watching or reading other non-school related material. In theory, you are simply changing the location where you are studying. That's the beauty of...

The Instant Pot has Become my Best Friend

Image
"Hail the Instant Pot" Are you tired after a long hard day at work and dread the thought of coming home to cook dinner? Dread no more, I have the answer! Buy an Instant Pot. You may ask, "What exactly is an Instant Pot, and what is all this craze about?"  It's pretty simple:  One pot, one meal, one mess.  This handy contraption provides a "one size cooks all" in a limited amount of time, and all the cooking is done directly in the pot. Not only do you save time cooking, but you also save time cleaning up.  Once again this is something I use to help achieve more balance in my life. Say goodbye to that boring meal plan where your menu is totally predictable. Let's change it up and help you cook meals your family will a ctually look forward to. Some of my favorites I have tried so far: Beef stroganoff:  https://www.meatloafandmelodrama.com/instant-pot-ground-beef-stroganoff/ Honey garlic chicken:    https://diethood.com/i...

3 P's That Lead to Performance

Image
What we do to Survive Whether male or female, I'm sure you can relate to the picture, as daily survival is based on a balancing act. Some days seem easier than others, but we ALL SURVIVE!  What I have learned is there are 3 P's that lead to Performance : Perspective, Prioritizing, and Persistence. Perspective :   It's easy for someone looking in from the outside to persuade us what we can or cannot do, or for us to convince ourselves the same. It is all about perspective . If you tell yourself you are too busy and you can't accomplish something, you won't. If you replace the can't with can , you will . Simple as that! Perception becomes reality, and until you make that change, nothing will change itself. Prioritizing : We all make time for what we consider to be priorities. Reflect back on a day you were running late for work, and you still ...

It's All About Balance

Image
The game of life can be challenging as many of us are trying to juggle all aspects of life. Between, work, family, activities, and things in general, "adulting," may seem nearly impossible at times. How can one even fathom throwing something additional into the mix? School?!?! Are you crazy? Perhaps not. It's All About Balance . I am living proof that adding on additional responsibilities, such as the pursuit of a Master's degree can be done.  Most of my education has been completed as a non-traditional student. I set out on this educational journey immediately following high school but didn't finish until years later when I  had a husband, house, and two kids. As if that was not challenging enough, here I am at it again, but this time with an additional two children, bringing the grand total to four. Not only am I working full time, raising a household, and going to school, I am able to exercise as well because I balance my time effectively. We all need an...
